NAFIZ Announces CBFIN-NAFIZ Banking Journalism Award

Nepal Association of Financial Journalists (NAFIJ) s going to award the ‘CBFIN-NAFIZ Banking Journalism Award’ with the financial support of the Confederation of Banks and Financial Institutions Nepal (CBFIN).

NAFIJ President Modnath Dhakal and Sibifin President Pawan Kumar Golyan signed the agreement to provide the award on Thursday.

NAFIJ is an umbrella organization of active financial journalists, while CBFIN is an umbrella organization of ‘A’, ‘B’, and ‘C’ category banks and financial institutions.

The two organizations are going to award the financial journalists who are writing in the banking bit to develop their skills, expand their abilities, and encourage them to practice good journalism. The award will promote sound and investigative economic journalism.

This year’s ‘CBFIN-NAFIJ Banking Journalism Award‘ will be awarded to 2 people with a cash prize of 50,000 rupees each at the special ceremony of the NAFIJ anniversary on 31st Bhadra.

A 3-member working group will be formed with representation from both organizations for award selection.

The two organizations have also said that they will work towards establishing a renewable fund to provide similar awards in the future.

Speaking at the agreement signing event, CBFIN President Pawan Kumar Golyan informed that CBFIN was established to work for the benefit of not only banks and financial institutions but the entire economy.

He claimed that with the announcement of the CBFIN-NAFIJ Banking Journalism Award, financial journalists will be encouraged to report economic events and topics in a strong, fair, searching, effective and logical manner.

Golyan expressed the hope that a renewable fund could be established to continue the award by strengthening the collaboration with NAFIZ in the future.

On that occasion, NAFIZ President Modnath Dhakal mentioned that the award will play a big role in making journalism competitive and promoting investigative journalism.

Asserting that the role of the media in the economy will support economic growth by creating an environment for investment along with the promotion of the private sector, he said that such awards will play an important role in increasing the quality of news and the competitiveness of journalists.
