New Challenges & Opportunities in Digital Signature Industry

This era is the era of ICT. We want each and every work remain within the personal devices. So for the convenience of our work we want electronic transaction banking shopping and many more our daily activity in electronic device. For the adaptation with the rest of the world Nepal government also officially implement digital signature in official use form December 2015.

A digital signature is a special digital certificate identifying code that is used to authenticate the digital formatted data and information.

Before the implementation of digital signature Nepal does not has any digital authentications method for the verification of digital data, is it genuine or means no any legalization of digital document. Now initiation of digital signature Nepalese government business organization and general public can fell secure and confidence to utilize and implement electronic services. There are many legal issue are remaining for remind and modification for the smooth implementation without misuses of the infrastructure. The Office of the Controller of Certification (OCC) had started the works related it under the Electronic Transactions Act 2006 and Rules 2007 with an objective to make electronic transactions reliable and safe

Technically Digital signature is provided to each user in some hard copy token based device which is protected using password and other protection mechanism. These device is used as the medium for the accessing the system. Beside hard token based system there may be implementation of other soft copy medium also.

All the business organization and parties should obtain their  own unique digital ID for legal purpose in business. The implementation of digital signature makes electronic transaction safe easier and provides its legal recognition. So the implementation of digital signature is a step ahead in development of information technology and e-governance.
