The Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has taken a proactive step in enhancing cyber security measures within the country by initiating a revision of the Cyber Security Regulation 2077.

As part of this crucial process, the NTA is extending an invitation to all concerned stakeholders to contribute their insights, opinions, and suggestions.

In light of the evolving digital landscape and the escalating importance of safeguarding sensitive information, the NTA is committed to fortifying Nepal’s cyber security framework.

To achieve this objective, the authority has recognized the significance of collaboration and input from a wide range of experts, organizations, and entities invested in the realm of information and communication technology.

On Wednesday, 2nd August 2023, the NTA released an official notification inviting telecommunications service providers, regulatory bodies, and all relevant parties to actively participate in this amendment process.

Specifically, the authority is keen on understanding any challenges faced by telecommunication service providers while adhering to the existing regulation.

Furthermore, the NTA Cyber Security Regulation Amendment welcomes insights into any areas of the regulation that require refinement or modification.

Interested parties are requested to submit their opinions, advice, and suggestions in writing within a period of 30 days from the date of the notice’s publication. Alongside their recommendations, stakeholders are encouraged to provide substantiated reasons supporting the proposed revisions.

By seeking diverse perspectives and expertise, the NTA Cyber Security Regulation Amendment aims to align the revised Cyber Security Regulation with the latest best practices in the field.

The authority’s overarching goal is to bolster the protection of Nepal’s information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure and information systems against an array of cyber threats and attacks.

This strategic initiative not only reinforces cyber security measures but also upholds the trust and confidence of users in utilizing ICT services.

As Nepal progresses in the digital age, the NTA’s commitment to refining cyber security measures stands as a testament to its dedication to a safer, more secure digital environment.
