With several budget smartphones in the market, let’s see how Oppo A12 could thrive in terms of its features and price in Nepal.

Oppo A12 Overview

Build, Design and Display

The Oppo A12 has a ‘blazing design that fits your hands and eyes’, as Oppo likes to call it.

The device comes with a polycarbonate body with a matte finish polygon textured surface on the back, which Oppo calls 3D diamond blaze design. With just 165g in weight and 8.3mm thickness, this smartphone certainly should be a one-hand delight. There are also dual cameras on the back along with a fingerprint scanner.

The Oppo A12 features a 6.22-inch HD+ display with a water-drop style notch on top of the screen. It gives a resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19:9. Moreover, Oppo has added a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 that protects the display.

Talking about protection, the Blue Light Shield on the display filters out harmful blue light to protect your eyes. In fact, it reduces eye strain while watching videos or playing games.

Cameras

Despite the fact that most smartphones come with triple or quad-camera setup, the AI dual cameras are something to brag about on the Oppo A12. It comprises of a 13MP primary camera and a 2MP portrait lens. There’s also an LED flash that resides next to the pill-shaped camera module.

While the camera misses out on a wide-angle or telephoto lens, the secondary camera does support taking portraits with bokeh effect. Other features include Panorama, Time-lapse, HDR, and Dazzle Color.

The Dazzle color mode uses a pixel-grade color-mapping algorithm to create more vibrant and natural colors in an image. Meanwhile, the selfie shooter is a 5MP lens that is powered with Oppo’s AI Beautification. So, it automatically amplifies the beauty elements of one’s self.

Performance and Memory

Since it is an entry-level smartphone, the hardware is pretty much a starter. Under the hood, it packs a MediaTek Helio P35 that gives an average performance given the price. Buyers have the option to choose between two variants – 3/32GB and 4/64GB. Fortunately, the storage is expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card. The Oppo A12 runs on Android 9 with ColorOS 6.1 on top.

Battery Life
