Nepal Rastra Bank has given permission to DigiPay Pvt. Ltd. as a payment service provider. DigiPay was registered as a digital payment service provider in Nepal in 2074.
“Digipay will not only act as a payment service gateway to build a cashless society in Nepal. But will also take initiatives to increase financial literacy in the country,” said Divkar Pandey, Chief Executive Officer of DigiPay Pvt.
So far, according to Pandey, 50,000 have been downloaded from the Google Play Store. And more than 10,000 have been downloaded from the iOS app.
He says it has become popular with a variety of entertainment programs, beauty pageant organizers, vendors of various brands, and customers.

“Through DigiPay, one can not only pay for e-commerce, phone service recharge, electricity, drinking water, internet, etc. But also organize events based on one’s own location, engage and participate in such events, including digital voting,” Pandey said. DigiPay is the first wallet to launch digital voting services.
He said that after getting the formal payment service provider’s permission from the National Bank, DigiPay will now add features like food and commodity shopping and its supply, cinema and air tickets, ride-sharing.
