ATNDT, Nvidia, Samsung USA, Qualcomm, and Interdigital have shown interest in 6G study projects in the US.
When the world is in a tug of war over the leap to wireless technology after FiveG, these well-known companies have been attracted to the research of SixG technology.
It is believed that the research center at the University of Texas will be named 6GEUT and will lay the foundation for new technology.
Each of the companies involved will sponsor at least two fixed three-year projects and work with educational experts to develop state-of-the-art technology.
These new technologies include new sensing methods, wireless-specific machine learning algorithms, and network innovation.
Announcing the project, the University of Texas Wireless Networking and Communication Group said it was launched to “further strengthen its leadership in wireless innovation.”
He also mentioned that there would be automatic cars, flying taxis, and holographic conferencing on the horizon.
In addition, the university expects the study to include the use of terahertz bands in some parts of the study and help mobile carriers monitor network quality from office towers to busy urban areas and their various locations in remote areas.
Next-generation networks will be equipped with radio sensors based on radar, vision, audio, thermal, seismic, and broadband software, which will provide ecological information about applications and devices running on the network, the university said.
The project is a concerted effort by key corporations, governments, and research institutes to compete to develop new technologies in the 6G competition, the beginning of the development of experimental events, and the shaping of state-of-the-art wireless technology.
Notable steps in this area include the US partnership with The Next G Alliance, an operator-supported Rise-6G research project in the European Union, and several government-supported technical research and development programs in China.
