Every October, DigitalOcean hosts its annual Hacktoberfest event (Sagarmatha Hacktoberfest), a month-long celebration of open-source software and community collaboration.

This event encourages individuals, both coders and non-coders, to contribute to open-source projects, recognizing the vital role these projects play in modern technology infrastructure.

With a decade of history, Hacktoberfest has become a global phenomenon, uniting passionate individuals to give back to open-source initiatives.

Open source projects, often maintained by dedicated volunteers with limited resources, form the backbone of many tech products and services. Hacktoberfest serves as a platform for tech enthusiasts to show their appreciation, improve their skills, and engage with like-minded individuals who share a passion for open source.

Over the past ten years, thousands of participants have joined Hacktoberfest to support the projects they rely on, enhance their skills, and expand their network within the open-source community.
