Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Overview

Design & Display

Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is elegant in a way that makes the delicate and chunky design elements look good. Samsung has decided not to move away from the glass sandwich design and on the back, it has got Gorilla Glass protection. In fact, it has got the new Gorilla Glass Victus protection on the front that is said to be capable of holding drops of up to 2m.

Its sibling may have gone with a flat-screen but the Note 20 Ultra has decided to stick with a curved screen that measures 6.9-inches. Yes, it’s huge. And, it has incredibly small bezels and smaller cutout for the selfie camera in comparison to the standard Note 20.

It has got a WQHD+ resolution of 3088 x 1440 pixels and an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz. This provides super smooth scrolling and toggling between apps. Also, it comes with IP68 water/dust resistance for protection.

Talking about protection, the Note 20 Ultra has an under-screen fingerprint scanner for security. When you take a look at the back, you’ll notice a camera bump similar to its sibling. The device has a matte finish in its advertised Mystic Bronze color while early reviews suggest the Mystic Black and Mystic White have a glossy finish.

Cameras

The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra features a triple-camera setup inside the camera bump. It consists of a 12MP ultra-wide camera on the top, a 108MP wide-angle camera on the middle, and a 12MP telephoto lens with up to 50x zoom on the bottom. Interestingly, the camera bump also houses a laser autofocus sensor that captures photos quickly. On the front, there’s a 10MP selfie camera with Dual Pixel AF.

Now, one would hope that the latest flagship smartphones resolve previous issues and bugs. With the Note 20 Ultra, it provides amazing autofocus solving the focusing issue in the S20 Ultra. Moreover, you can record 8K videos at 24fps and there are improvements in Live focus video as well.

Performance & Memory

It’s safe to say that there’s a lot going under the hood on the Note 20 Ultra. You’ll get the impressive Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset along with 12GB of RAM. However, that’s reserved only for the market in North America and a couple of Asian markets like China and South Korea. This means the rest of the world has to settle with Exynos 990.

Talking about storage options, you’ll be able to pick from 128, 256, or 512GB of UFS 3.1 in the 5G variant. Meanwhile, you’ll get an 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM with 256 or 512GB of internal storage on the LTE models. Gladly, the Note 20 Ultra has a MicroSD slot that supports additional 1TB storage which is unlike its sibling that doesn’t have a MicroSD slot.

Faster S Pen

Samsung has reduced the latency on the S Pen which means it comes with a faster response than the previous generation Note series. However, it’s the same exact stylus from Note 10 Plus.

Nevertheless, the stylus on the Note 20 Ultra comes with 5 additional gestures. This means you can pretend as if you are a wizard waving your magic wand with the S Pen. It’s up to the users how they want to use it.

Battery & Extras

Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has a 4500mAh battery, which is bigger than what last year’s note series had. However, let us remind you that the S20 Ultra has the 5000mAh beast of a battery.

Moreover, Note 20 Ultra supports 20W fast wired, 15W wireless, and reverse wireless charging.

We’ve already talked about Samsung’s deal with Microsoft on providing over 100 Xbox games for free. Read more about that in our Samsung Galaxy Note 20 article.
