Rastriya Jeevan Beema Company Limited Fourth Quarter Financial Report Fiscal Year 2082/83 Overview

Government owned Rastriya Jeevan Beema Company Limited has published its unaudited financial statements for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2082/83.

According to the financial report, although the life insurance fund of the company recorded strong growth this year, profitability and reserve funds came under significant pressure.
Life Insurance Fund Registers Strong Growth
The life insurance fund of Rastriya Jeevan Beema Company Limited recorded notable improvement over the course of the fiscal year. The main life insurance fund grew by 14.93 percent.
At the end of fiscal year 2081 82, the fund stood at 62.19 billion rupees. By the end of fiscal year 2082/83, the life insurance fund expanded to reach 71.48 billion rupees.
The catastrophe reserve fund also saw positive movement. It increased by 27.61 percent to reach 40.1 million rupees.
Profitability Faces Heavy Loss and EPS Drops
The overall profitability of the government owned insurer weakened significantly during the review period. The company recorded a net loss after posting a positive profit in the prior year.
In fiscal year 2081 82, the company earned a net profit of 21.4 million rupees. In fiscal year 2082/83, the company incurred a net loss of 23.8 million rupees.
Earnings per share EPS dropped sharply into negative territory alongside the profit decline. EPS fell from a positive 11.86 rupees per share in the previous year to a loss of 13.15 rupees per share.
Reserve Fund Turns Negative
The reserve fund of Rastriya Jeevan Beema Company Limited experienced severe downturn during fiscal year 2082/83.
In the previous fiscal year, the reserve fund had accumulated 383.6 million rupees. By the end of this fiscal year, the reserve fund turned negative by 3.69 billion rupees.
Income and Expense Balance Shifts
The financial report indicates that the company faced challenges in balancing operational income against rising expenses. Net insurance premium income rose marginally by 1.58 percent to reach 9.71 billion rupees.
Total income saw a minor gain of 0.33 percent to stand at 14.09 billion rupees.
However, total expenses grew at a much faster rate. Total expenses increased by 8.23 percent to reach 14.12 billion rupees, directly impacting overall bottom line profitability.
Capital Structure and Policy Count Reduction
The paid up capital of Rastriya Jeevan Beema Company Limited remained unchanged throughout the reporting period. Total paid up capital stands at 181 million rupees.
Meanwhile, the total number of active insurance policies declined over the year. The company held 575,980 insurance policies in the previous year, which fell down to 511,123 policies by the end of fiscal year 2082/83.
