Tesla Powerwall is a rechargeable lithium-ion battery manufactured by Tesla Motors for home applications. It stores electrical energy for domestic consumptions, backup power, and load shifting. It comes in two models: 10 kWh weekly cycle version for backup applications which costs US$3,500 and 7 kWh version for daily cycle applications which cost approximately US$3,000. These two models use different generic cell chemistry. One model is used for everyday cycling, and the other is used for backup power. These models can provide power during the evening using the electricity produced by the solar panels. For a larger family, multiple powerwalls can be used to supply more power.
The Powerwall can store 100kWH for domestic use.  The chairman, CEO, and analyst of Tesla Motors, Elon Musk, to meet the variety of energy needs in the industry said, “Powerpack is infinitely scalable.” Tesla uses proprietary technology for cooling and packaging the cells in packs with liquid coolant.
The daily cycle 7kWh battery is comprised of nickel-manganese-cobalt chemistry and can be recharged 5000 times while the ten kWh battery contains nickel-cobalt-aluminium battery same like Tesla Model S which can be renewed up to 1000-1500 times. The latter is used in a weekly emergency only. It includes a DC to DC converter to sit between the existing solar panels and the current DC to AC inverter at home. This device was announced originally in 30th April 2015 with a power output of 2 kW steady and 3.3 kW peak.
