Nagarik App Downloads Reached To Six Lakh, Many Complaints Are Not Verified

Nagarik App is a mobile application launched by Nepal Government to provide government-related services on a single online platform. The citizens can enjoy PAN registration, local government information, tax details, services related to Citizen Investment Trust, Police clearance report, Malpot, Health insurance board, saving funds, educational details, and Opening bank account online through the app.

These days users are attracted to the ‘Nagarik App,’ which was unveiled on January 2 under the slogan ‘Supporting Communication and Information Technology, Government Services Hand in Hand.’

It has been found that 640,503 people have downloaded the app in a period of four months. Only 34.7 percent of those who downloaded the app have been verified so far, according to th National Information Technology Center.

According to Information Technology Center Information Officer Ramesh Prasad Pokhrel, 574,203 people have downloaded Android phones. Similarly, 52,859 have scanned the iPhone (ISO), and more than 5,000 have scanned the QR code.

Although the number of app downloads is increasing day by day, the number of verifiers is still low. So far, 4,18,188 people have not been certified, while only 222,315 people have been certified.

Many complaints have been received that it has not been verified, even after downloading the app, according to the center official. Users are complaining through the telephone along who have entered the center by verifying the app.

He informed me that he could not do the verification as the SIM card he was using was not in his name. Similarly, the users have also complained that their citizenship details have changed.

The full version of the Nagarik app, made public as a beta version on January 2, was made public on April 4. The Nagarik app was launched, saying that all kinds of services provided by the government of Nepal will be digitized, and the services will be provided through an integrated platform to the users.

Recently, police clearance reports and health insurance programs have been added to the app. For account opening, users can go to Nepal Bank and Siddhartha Bank by scanning QR codes from the app. The Nagarik app will include government services in the first phase and semi-government services in the second phase.
