Nepal Telecom Celebrating the New Fiscal Year as the ‘FTTH Expansion Year’ Telecom has a Budget of 37 Arab.

Nepal Doorsanchar Company Ltd., popularly known as Nepal Telecom or NTC, is a state-owned telecommunication service provider in Nepal with 91.49% of the government share.

Nepal Telecom Company Limited (Nepal Telecom) has passed the budget and program for the coming Fiscal Year 2078/079.

Telecom has passed a total budget of Rs.37 Arab 17 crore. In which it is mentioned that the upcoming year will be celebrated as ‘FTTH Expansion Year.

Telecom, which has been prioritizing Fiber to the Home (FTTH) expansion for two years, aims to make it more effective.

According to the regulatory Nepal Telecommunication Authority, the number of telecom subscribers connected to FTTH internet till last April is one lakh 11 thousand 229.

With the significant increase in the number of fiber internet users in the last two years, the telecom is planning to celebrate the upcoming year as the ‘FTTH Expansion Year.’

Out of the total budget of Rs. 37.17 crore, Rs. 21.24 crore has been allocated for capital expenditure. 15.93 crore has been allocated for operating expenses. This is a significant increase over the current Fiscal Year 2077/078.

In the current fiscal year, the capital expenditure of Nepal Telecom was Rs. 14.78 Arab, while the operating expenditure was Rs. 14.50 crore.

The telecom, which has a larger budget than the current one, has included key programs such as expanding the Four G project nationwide, bringing in a new billing system, and operating a network operations center.

On the other hand, the company’s revenue target for the current fiscal year has not been met. The telecom, which plans to earn Rs.47 Arab in the current fiscal year, is expected to earn a total of Rs 41.25 Arab by the end of Ashar.

Covid-19 is one of the main reasons for not achieving the target, the company said.

The company has set a target of earning Rs 48.63 Arab in the coming fiscal year even though it failed to achieve the revenue target in the previous fiscal year.

Telecom estimates that GSM and FTTH will be the main sources of revenue.
