The government has appointed Dipesh Bista as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Electronic Governance Commission.

In the advertisement made by the government on 16th Bhadra, three people applied for the post. Among them, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s information technology expert advisor has been selected.

For the CEO of the commission, 12 years of experience in the relevant field was required.

According to the Electronic Governance Commission (Formation and Operation) Order-2079, the prime minister is the chairman of the commission.

 The Chief Secretary, Minister of Information and Communication Technology will be the Co-Chairman of the Commission. The Secretary of the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers, the Secretary of Communication and Information Technology will be members.

The commission will suggest to the government formulate a policy related to the cyber security of the electronic systems operating in the government agencies.

Similarly, the Commission is also responsible for formulating short-term and long-term policies related to information technology and electronic governance and submitting them to the Government of Nepal.

The commission is also responsible for formulating policies and plans necessary to promote employment in the field of information technology and making recommendations to the government of Nepal.

Moreover, it will also make standards for the storage of electronic data in government agencies, the security of electronic communication equipment and electronic networks, and the operation of electrical systems used for public services.
