IME Pay Introduces Virtual Visa Card: Here’s How you can Get It

IME (International Money Express) Digital Solution Ltd. is known as Nepal’s first licensed company to provide digital payment solutions. IME Pay, a mobile money service, offers a wide range of payment services with just a few easy clicks and convenient ways to transfer money from wallet to wallet, pay utility bills and make purchases online or offline instantly.

Now you can easily pay for the purchase of goods and services without using physical cards. Recently, IME Pay launched a new service where you can apply for a virtual Visa card through this digital wallet and get it instantly. IME Pay, in partnership with Visa, integrated the service.

What is a Virtual Visa Card?

A virtual Visa card is a set of randomly generated card numbers. The numbers represent your Visa card or bank account. These numbers can be easily stolen and used to get your information. Because of which virtual Visa cards are more secure than using regular debit and credit cards. The cards are generated by Visa company. Four kinds of virtual cards are present:

  • Virtual Visa Card
  • Virtual Master Card
  • Virtual Debit Card
  • Virtual Credit Card

Out of them, Visa cards are the most popular ones. Within the first quarter of 2018, there were 755 million Visa cards worldwide. Visas are almost universally accepted that’s why they are popular. Even ATM machines are adaptive of Visa cards. In Nepal also Visa cards are used by banks for debit and credit cards services.

However virtual visa has no physical body as a plastic card but works as a means of payment. The number represents the Visa card or account of the user linked with the credit/ debit card of the account holder. The SSL encryption technology regenerates a new number that is different from that in your physical card each time you make payments. This makes it more secure than physical cards.

It appears exactly like a physical card on the screen. It also has similar contents like card number, expiration date, transaction limit, and a security code.

How does a Virtual Card work?

A virtual card Visa card is simply a set of random numbers and a CVV code that can be generated instantly. It represents your account. You can use the virtual card Visa card within a few minutes of its creation to make purchases.

When a virtual card Visa card is used to make a purchase, the cost is routed back to the underlying account and the payment is made from the account that is linked to the number. The virtual card Visa card number expires as soon as it is used. Each purchase generates a new number making it difficult to trace the bank account for the thieves.

Where can a virtual Visa card be used?

They can be used by businesses to make purchases online or over the phone. Furthermore, you can lock the card so as to block further transactions making it even more secure because you can do it yourself. The card can be used to purchase goods online, make Netflix subscriptions, and also for boosting your social accounts.

Some stores are still not equipped to accept virtual business cards. Though, virtual business cards can be used to make remote purchases from any merchant or supplier that accepts Visa cards. You can also use it to buy online gift cards.

How to Get a Virtual Visa Card from IME Pay?

In order to purchase your virtual Visa card from IME pay, Install the IME pay app on your device and follow the steps:

  1. You need to have KYC verified IME pay account on your mobile.
  2. Now, log in to your IME Pay wallet account.
  3. Click on that card tab on the home page.
  4. To get the card details, tap on the card displayed.
  5. You can see your transaction limits and lock them.
  6. The card number is regenerated with each transaction.
