Apple iPhone SE (2020) Now Available in Nepal

The new iPhone SE (2020), or simply, iPhone SE 2 has finally arrived in Nepal after its official launch back in April. And, it has already started receiving a cold shoulder due to its outrageous pricing in Nepal. Firstly, let’s just say that this new iPhone packs a brilliant A13 Bionic chipset, comes with wireless charging, and is available at a starting price of USD 399. However, the price in Nepal for the brand new iPhone SE 2020 is a bit overwhelming.

The Looks and Display

As far as the aesthetics are concerned, the design of the iPhone SE 2 looks tired in 2020. The build quality, however, is of a good quality considering Apple’s long history with rock-solid designs. Moreover, the True Tone on the 4.7-inch LCD display helps to color-match the surroundings.

There are thick bezels at the top and a Touch ID on the bottom – same as the iPhone 8 series. In fact, the iPhone SE 2 also shares the same dimension, weight, IP rating, and build with the iPhone 8. Talking about the color options, you get Black, White, and a special Red variant for this device.

Also, you’ll find that it is 18% larger than the original iPhone SE, which is a very common practice among smartphones these days. People can’t seem to resist bigger phones but if it’s of any help, there are not a lot of good tiny Android phones.

Performance and Memory

When it comes to its performance, let’s just say that there’s no competition out there for the Apple A13 Bionic chipset.

Yes! The cheapest iPhone has the same chipset as the latest iPhone 11 series.

Furthermore, the Hexa-core SoC on the iPhone SE 2 overtakes the latest Snapdragon processor. The cheapest iPhone runs on iOS 13 out-of-the-box and it is likely to get software updates to make it last.

Moving on to the memory, Apple has made sure the 2020 version of the iPhone SE satisfies the storage requirements. Therefore, it comes with 64GB storage for the base model. Moreover, buyers can opt for the 128GB or 256GB variants.

Camera

Now, let’s talk about the cameras on the new iPhone SE 2. Apple hasn’t been biased about the quantity since there are two of them – one up front, and one at the back. However, we will see how their quality sets them apart.

The one at the back is a 12MP wide lens with f1/.8 – same as the iPhone XR. The good quality of the image clicked by the iPhone SE 2 is displayed in full glory in its Portrait mode. Also, there’s Smart HDR and 4K@60fps for video recording. Another noteworthy feature is its 5x Digital Zoom.

Meanwhile, the front camera is a standard 7MP lens with f/2.2 that also supports portrait clicks. The selfie shooter has features such as 1080@30fps video recording, Face detection, and Auto HDR.

Battery

Finally, we arrive at the battery front as Apple claims, the battery of iPhone SE 2 lasts as long as an iPhone 8. It packs a non-removable 1821mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging. As advertised, the charger can take this phone up to 50% in 30 minutes.

With a full day usage of an average 4-5 hours of screen-on time, it could go through an entire day. Likewise, the phone also supports Qi wireless charging.
