2020, the Indian car market as a whole did not look encouraging. Of the 29,36,626 passenger cars sold in India in 2019, only 24,27,883 were sold in 2020.

Despite the decline in passenger car sales, sales of Kia, Tata, and MG (Morris Garage) have increased.

Kia has sold 45,000 cars in India in 2019 and has managed to sell 140,505 cars in 2020. In 2020, Kia’s annual sales growth is 288.8 percent.

Kia has increased its market share from 1.5 percent in 2019 to 5.8 percent in 2020.

MG’s annual sales growth was 76.8 percent. MG has sold 15,930 cars in 2019 and 28,162 cars in 2020.

MG has increased its market share from 0.5 percent in 2019 to 1.2 percent in 2020.

Indian carmaker Tata’s passenger car sales are also positive in 2020. Tata has sold 152,944 cars in 2019 and has managed to sell 170,151 cars in 2020.

At the same time, the market share of the car has increased from 7 percent in 2019 to 11.3 percent in 2020.

Maruti Suzuki, which has the largest market share in India’s passenger car market, sold 14,85,943 cars in 2019, down from 18.3 percent in 2020 to 12,13,660.

However, Maruti Suzuki’s market share in the overall car market is still 50 percent.

Similarly, Hyundai sold 510,260 cars in 2019 and 423,642 cars in 2020. Overall, Hyundai has a 17 percent market share in passenger cars, up from 17 percent a year earlier.

Mahindra sold 219,682 cars in 2019, down 37.9 percent to 1,36,500 in 2020.

Renault sold 88,879 cars in 2019, 80,511 in 2020, Toyota sold 126,701 cars in 2019, 76,111 cars in 2020, and Honda sold 134,000 cars in 2019. Out of 1,141 sales, only 70,593 cars were sold in 2020, according to Auto pandit.

Ford sold 73,636 cars in 2019, 45,799 in 2020, and Volkswagen sold 32,324 cars in 2019, compared to 15,771 in 2020.

Skoda sold 15,284 cars in 2019, 11,372 in 2020, Nissan sold 23,580 cars in 2019, 9,873 in 2020 and Fiat sold 11,200 in 2019. Out of 38 cars sold, 5,226 cars have sold in 2020.
