The education sector is one of the most affected since the outbreak of COVID-19 and the lockdown in Nepal. Schools and colleges are shut down hindering further studies and examinations.
Due to this uncertainty of lockdown and growing risks of the pandemic, Samriddhi School has decided to start regular online classes and academic activities from Friday (April 24, 2020). The school is implementing some decisions for their new academic session that involves online platforms to conduct regular online classes.
Notice from the School’s website
Points from the school’s notice:
Samriddhi school has decided to promote all its students from Play Group to Grade 9 to the next level for the 2077 session.
The school is starting regular online classes and academic activities from Friday (Baisakh 12, 2077) for Nursery to Grade 10 students.
The teaching faculty is prepared for online academic sessions and the parents will receive class routines and further information through the mail. Preferably a laptop or desktop PC with a camera and mic should be used for the online classes but in case of unavailability, smartphones can be used.
New admissions are ongoing and interested parents can fill up online admission forms by visiting the school’s website.
The Principal and teaching faculty have expressed immense pleasure to announce online classes. Furthermore, they expect support and cooperation from the students and parents.
Interview with Naresh P. Shrestha – CEO/Principal, Samriddhi School
Q. How did the decision of starting online classes come into action?
A: We had been discussing the possibility of remote classes for a long time. We have already trained the teaching faculty and collected the survey of parents regarding online classes. So, based on the availability of our resources and preferences of parents, we made this decision.
Q. What platforms are you planning to use for conducting online classes?
A: Initially, we are going to use the Zoom video conferencing platform. We are also using Google Class to share study materials, homework, research work, and other assignments. However, we are in the process of acquiring our own learning system. The learning system will have all the tools that facilitate homework assigning, notice management, and running online classes. This AI-based system will allow progress tracking as well. In fact, it is currently in development at Fusemachines and we are expecting it to arrive in a month.
Interview with Naresh P. Shrestha
Q. How are you accepting admissions for the new academic session?
A: Actually we were planning for an online admission procedure before the lockdown. Since the lockdown, it has become a necessity to plan for a new academic session due to the uncertainty of school reopening. That’s why we are accepting new admissions through an online application form that parents can find on our website.
Q. What are the future prospects of running online classes after the lockdown?
A: We will definitely continue our online academic activities even after the lockdown is lifted. Maybe we will discontinue remote classes but we will make sure to implement other activities through technology. For example, we will be discontinuing homework diaries for students. The system that we will be using will have all the features from homework assignments to progress tracking and other activities. So, we are planning for the long-term use of technology in our school and will be using platforms like Google Class.
Q. What are the challenges of regular online classes that you are currently facing?
A: Some students who are outside Kathmandu valley and at a low network coverage areas, may face difficulties in participating in regular online classes. However, we have the facility to share resources through Viber, mail, and help them connect through smartphones. Our target remains to achieve 100% attendance from students and we will make sure to support students who don’t have easy access to online platforms.
Final Thoughts
The crisis in hand has become an opportunity for online platforms to step up and change the game. The education sector is in need of much help and support to make sure students are not deprived of basic education. With uncertainty in the reopening of schools and colleges, it is important to consider online alternatives to sustain the institutes. At the same time, these institutes have a responsibility towards the learning and growth of students.
Do you have any suggestions regarding the conduction of online classes in schools? Let us know in the comments!

Starting your own business is easy. The trick, however, is to sustain it. In today’s market, online business in Nepal has huge potential. You need to take a number of factors into account before starting an online business.
With little to no investment, you can end up with a successful online business. This may sound daunting and almost impossible, but we can assure you, it’s easier than you think.
However, it is up to you – the lengths that you are willing to go to and the attempts you are willing to make.
In this article, we are going to look at 5 steps that can help you build an online business idea in Nepal.
The 5 Steps To A Successful Online Business in Nepal
Generate Product Ideas
Find the Perfect Product or Niche For Your Business
Set up Short-Term and Long-Term Goals Through Market Study
Launch Your Online Business
Sustain In The Market
It is very essential to note that these steps are connected and work together. Step 2 through 4 are the key factors that help you launch your online business.
So, we suggest you read the steps carefully.
1. Generate Product Ideas
Obviously, your online business has to have a product. And, this step is crucial as it is not the time to erase ideas from your mind. Note everything down to narrow it down later. You will need to develop an idea for your product – what you love or what you can do.
Make sure to have at least 15-20 products or niches to begin sorting out the one you will go with. Sometimes, you don’t necessarily have to go with one.
Wondering what in the world is ‘niche’? Don’t worry, it’s just a fancy word for something that is a segmented part of a market.
For example, Dell’s laptop accessories could be a niche. However, a broad category such as ‘Computers’ wouldn’t.
You can start with what you know and what you love. Then, ask yourself how the product or niche can help solve existing problems in the market. The important thing is to have a passion for it. This way, you are likely to work for it and achieve success.
For inspiration, you can check out what is trending in the market. Check out the following links:
The next thing you need to do is ask questions about your audience.
What audience group are you going to target for your product?
Which products do they already love?
How does your product solve its issue?
How active are they online or on social media?
What products do they regularly buy?
How often do they buy products?
Where do they buy from?
Of course, there are more but it depends on your product as well. For this, you can take ideas from several online magazines and the latest statistics.
It’s all part of the product research!
2. Find the Perfect Product or Niche
It is totally up to you and we can’t tell you what to sell. The key is to eliminate the choices and work your way through them to find the ‘Perfect’ one.
Work your way through the different products that you have listed. The product you choose should have a significant number of targetable audiences in the market.
What to eliminate?
Shipping elements that are too large or heavy. Remember you are starting with zero investment.
Eliminate products with less to no profit margins.
Eliminate any product or idea that belongs to a broad category because you are going for a niche here. Also, drop any idea that is too common.
Copyright elimination; eliminate branded products like Nike, Adidas, Puma, etc. because we are not here to buy rights. Focus on Zero Investment.
3. Set up Goals through Market Study
Studying the market and analyzing trends is the most important step. It gives you an idea of what people are buying more often and how you can contribute. You will need to set some goals for your long-term and short-term plans.
It may be the most difficult step but it is necessary to study the marketing strategies. You have to consider both free and paid marketing to bring traffic to your website/profile.
Some ideas for Free Marketing are:
Social Media Profiles of your online business
Blog posts on the website
YouTube videos of products review
Bulk Email marketing (you can find some free services for this)
Reddit and Forum posts
Graphic Design posts on social media
Similarly, some Paid Marketing ideas would be:
Facebook/Instagram ads
Google Adwords
YouTube Ads/Sponsorship
Paying for a Guest Post Blog
Paying for Affiliate Marketing
4. Launch Your Online Business
The easiest way to launch your business is through social media platforms. Nowadays, people use smartphones more than their PCs, except for work. Everyone is basically online and you have to use that to your advantage.
Social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram are dominating the online market these days. You can start off with such platforms to set up your business profile and as you know, they are absolutely free.
Eventually, you can create a website for your business to receive orders and promote the latest offers. You can hire a developer/company for this matter. Or, check out:
Also, note that you have to do it quickly as what you learned a week ago may not be the same today. Online Business is dynamic.
5. Sustain in the Market
Congratulations! You have just launched your business online.
Now, what?
The important thing is to sustain in the market. But how?
Like every other online business in the world! I mean, promoting your product and developing marketing campaigns.
One of the best ways is to use Facebook ads. We know that we said we would start with zero investment but trust us, it’s nothing compared to the conversion you could make.
You can spend as little as $1-$5 a day to experiment and run your ads. If you can convert even 1 or 2 audiences to customers, you will definitely profit.
For this, you have to analyze your audiences, reach, impressions, etc. Facebook and Instagram give you this feature in their business page mode.
Setting up a business in Nepal, whether online or offline, may need approvals depending on the business type. For this, you may need to register your business. Here are the basic procedures:
Obtain approvals from related ministries/departments/bodies
Thank you for reading! There are other factors involved in starting an online business in Nepal as well. You might need market knowledge, experience, contacts (dealers and others), etc.
However, with these steps, you can definitely start fresh and sustain yourself in the market even if you are a beginner. There are many success stories to inspire you. The key is to get inspired and come up with brand-new marketing campaigns for your audience.

The service industry is blessed with services like Online Recharge. This service is in high demand these days, but the scenario was completely different a few years ago. The online recharge business in Nepal has made significant growth in the past couple of years.
Consumers used to recharge their cell phones, landline, or ADSL through the use of a recharge card. But, even Telco, like Nepal Telecom and Ncell, have come up with better recharge services online.
In this feature, we are going to spell out how one can start building their online recharge portal in Nepal. We will tell you what do you need and what things you need to consider.
Starting Online Recharge Business in Nepal
Let’s go through a series of steps for setting up a B2C recharge portal in Nepal:
Firstly, you will need a clear vision of what services you want to offer to your customers. Make sure you have it all figured out before you start the next step.
Once you have a clear goal up in your mind, make sure to give your project a name. Although some might prefer to do it further in the step, we recommend you do it at the beginning phase. You will need to scout for possible domain names for the project and get hosting for it.
Next, you have to arrange API for recharge services from all the network operators, utility, broadband, landline, and other service providers. Organizing and integrating APIs will be costly.
You will have to start the registration process quickly and get the necessary approval from the concerned departments/bodies/ministries. So, get the paper works ready!
After you have arranged the APIs, you may want to hire an IT company or a team of software developers. After all, you will need a software or application for your online recharge business. Make sure to be clear of the pricing and commissions as the developers will need to integrate the APIs into your application.
You will also need to develop a mobile app (if you want) and integrate it with your web portal and wallet. Recharging is so much easier and quicker with apps that you will increase your chances of landing more customers.
We all know that it may seem simple, but it takes patience, huge effort, and investment. That is why you need to plan well. Therefore, you will need a reliable team that knows what they are doing.
Pro tip: You can try boosting up revenues by associating with coupons offering companies and earning through advertisements.
Online Recharge Services To Consider
When planning to build an online recharge application, the most important things you require or say, expected of you are:
Recharge options for Network operators
People in Nepal use services of Telco, such as Nepal Telecom, Ncell, and Smart cell. Your system needs to make sure there are recharge options for all network operators. This is the only way to make sure everyone uses your portal. The mobile SIMs can be either postpaid or prepaid. So make sure to include mobile top-ups for both services as well.
Utility Bills
Nowadays, who even cares to wait in a queue. Online recharge is probably one of those services which both lazy and busy people would vote for. So, make sure your portal integrates the option to pay electricity bills and water bills quickly.
DTH service
DTH services are no different when it comes to being unable to pay bills due to busy work schedules. This is why you will need to consider DTH service payment as well.
Landline Bills
Remember waiting in a long queue to pay your landline bills? Well, gone are those days, and all thanks to online recharge portals like the one you are thinking of building.
Internet Bills
Everyone is online these days, and we owe it to broadband/internet services. NT ADSL, Worldlink, Vianet, etc. provide internet and TV service to the consumers in Nepal. To ensure that timely bill payment, your system should facilitate the online payment of internet services.
There are plenty of service providers that provide online recharge in Nepal. If you happen to subscribe to online banking or mobile banking, they are likely to provide you with utility payment services.
Using this service, you can top-up your mobile SIM and pay for utility bills directly from your bank account.
These are the top wallets, and there are a lot more. They are a lot easier to use and have user-friendly interfaces.
All you need is to create an account, submit KYC form, and load funds to use these services.
Final Thoughts
The first step is always planning, and for a business like this, you may need to prepare for a few weeks or months. The online recharge business has made the lives of people more convenient.
The service industry in Nepal has seen growth, and we owe it to innovations like these. The online recharge industry is blooming in Nepal.

Pipe leakage problems, Electronic problems these all are the common problems faced by every house owner. Every time there is a problem in different stuff we run into our contact list to call that specific technology. Plumber, Electric Technicians, Network Technicians, our contact list are filled with them. And with problems in different sectors, we have been spending money in all those sectors differently without keeping any track of it. Well, “Sajilo ” has brought a solution to these problems in your home.
Well “Sajilo Marmat Sewa” has brought a solution to these problems in your home. It is established with the goal of delivering door-to-door service within the Kathmandu Valley. They provide plumbing, electrical, networking and other home appliances connecting and repairing services.

Sujit Regmi, the founder of “Sajilo Marmat Sewa”, came up with the concept because he himself found it difficult to get access to home repair services while studying at the University of Kathmandu. He also felt that the technicians did not get the required amount of customers and work in the market. Sujit Regmi and his colleagues started Sajilo Marmat Sewa from the University of Kathmandu. Under the Entrepreneurship Development Program aired on Nepal Television, the group received good acclaim at Idea Studios – Season 1,
Home repair apps and companies are not new services we get to see in Nepal. There are many companies working with the same concepts, to make home service easier. These companies have done their great job to provide services to the people. With the increasing number of companies in this field, it’s a matter of time that we don’t have to save a long list of technicians in our contact.
Net TV Nepal – The easiest way to watch Nepali TV channels on mobile. We have always wished to see the match live using our smartphones. You might have also downloaded an app to stream the game live, or maybe a website. But it continually freezes precisely during the game while it was working correctly before.
Frustrating right?
Well, when you are blaming slow Internet for constant burning and low quality. That might not be an issue. Well, a live channel streaming app, Net TV, has been providing streaming opportunities, and they are proving this.
The Net TV app may not be new to many. The Net TV app, which has been downloaded more than 2 million times, was made public by the end of the year. Due to the misery of previously used TV viewing apps, it did not work as well. Last year, when they launched IP TVs via Wolf Link and VNet, they said that interest in Net TV had grown.
How to watch TV on Net TV?
There are two alternatives to watching TV on Net TV. The first free channels, you can listen to All Nepali TV channels and some foreign channels for free. Second – Paid Channel; Under this, more than a hundred channels available on Net TV can be viewed by paying.
To watch Net TV, you need to open an account on the app after downloading the app on mobile (sign up). After signing up, Nepali and foreign TV channels can be viewed. The user considers channels called free for free. Paid channels require the user to pay Rs 10 per channel, per month (fees may vary for one package). For the channels you want to watch, you can quickly pay by choosing a TV channel, including IPA, eService.
Also, to live television in the app, news, country and foreign movies, and television shows are available. All the TVs hosted locally (in Nepal) play smoothly in the app. Some films and television programs are also on YouTube.
What can happen in the future?
The use of ‘on-demand video services’ is increasing worldwide. Netflix, HBO Name, Hulu, Amazon Video Services, etc. are the most popular video-on-demand services. Dozens of programs have been created and broadcast for Netflix, Hulu, and so on.
If Net TV handles On-demand online content, it can collaborate with companies like Netflix, even if it doesn’t have its program. Although Netflix is available in Nepal, users are not able to watch it as there is no way to pay. Instead, users are downloading ‘Torrent’ and viewing the programs. But if Netflix’s videos appear on Net TV, the masses will surely watch their favorite programs on the local level, paying for money on Net TV. Another thing, NetTV available at limited ISP may also be possible in other ISPs in the future, which can be viewed using NetTV’s set-top box.
Some of the TVs available on the app are still ‘offline’. Net TV can also be a challenge to play all TVs online, smoothly. Because of the recent improvement in the speed of the Internet, if Net TV is to survive in Nepal for some time, it will become a big plus in the “On Demand Content” service.
Download the app to watch Net TV. (Note: Net TV is viewable only in Nepal)

It is one of the toughest things because of so many promising torrent sites. We’ve got your covered – here we are discussing 10 torrent sites to download TV shows. Don’t waste your time, you will be able to find the torrent you’re looking for in any of these.
These sites are completely safe and active. However, you will need to take precautions against malicious links and spyware.
Besides, you can’t be too secure.
Are Torrent Sites To Download TV Shows Safe?
Torrent sites aren’t always secure which makes it easy for hackers and threat actors to take advantage of torrent sites. They might target their victims by infecting these torrent sites with dangerous malware or intrusive spyware to steal your private data.
We recommend the use of a VPN to mask your IP address and encrypt your traffic to protect your online identity. It is crucial if you want to hide your torrenting activity from your ISP.
Note: Torrenting may be illegal where you live. Always use a secure VPN to protect your identity online when you torrent. We don’t encourage any illegal activity.
After you’ve downloaded the torrent file, you can then use software like BitTorrent, uTorrent, etc. to download TV shows associated with the file.
Is Torrenting Illegal in Nepal?
Torrenting may be illegal where you live. However, its legality depends on the content and not in the torrent itself. So, in the context of Nepal, downloading content can be illegal if you downloaded pirated products. The products which are protected by copyrights are automatically out of bounds when it comes to the law.
Also, to take actions against downloading pirated content, the owner of the content must cooperate with law-keepers to carry the investigation forward. It can be a hectic process which most owners will hesitate to take. Another thing is the poor implementation of cyber law in Nepal that encourages online illegal activities and not torrents itself.
It is to be noted that we don’t encourage any illegal activity. Downloading torrent is legal as long as the content is not protected by any copyright.

Indian businessman Ambani has chosen to enter the domain currently dominated by Flipkart, currently under, Amazon and Walmart, owned by the world’s wealthiest Jeff Bezos.
Ambani has put his money into the Mart just when the Indian government introduced a law to tighten foreign investment companies, especially in the e-commerce industry. This is expected to boost his business.
Jio Mart says it will ship the grocery items free and fast. When Ambani initially started telecom, he had taken a policy to charge only for the data services. This move from Ambani proved to be a massive success for Jio Telecom as it was able to gain the market quite quickly. Reliance Industries is looking for a competitive battle with Flipkart Online Services Pvt. Over the e-commerce market, which is estimated to reach $200 billion worth seven years from now.
Ambani, who is currently 62 years is quite ambitious with his investment in the retail business and estimates the overall contribution from the Jio telecom and mart to be raised from 32 % to 50 % in just a few years.
According to the JioMart website, its services are currently available in only three vicinities around Mumbai.

However, not many people know about the emerging Nepali startups and there are no such expos in Nepal that are focused on startups only. Also, it’s not possible for all recently founded startups to pay a heavy fee to exhibit in expos. Thus, GBG Kathmandu is taking the initiation to bring all major startups of Nepal in a single platform. Through GBG BizFest & Bizstart 2019, we are trying to provide them with a free and open platform to connect with their potential customers.”

Imagine if you could put someone in your empty bike seat and can earn some money from doing so. It may sound very new and exciting to you, but from now onwards you can make some money by putting someone in your empty bike seat. Tootle is here to make this happen. Sixit is a Tech entrepreneur, Co-founder/ CEO at tootle, the ridesharing application from Nepal. Sixit is a graduate in engineering with a major in electronics and communication. He holds a Masters in Business Administration, with gold medals awarded by Prime Minister and President of Nepal for Educational Excellence.
To know more about Tootle, we present an interview session with Sixit Bhatta.
Currently, what are you busy?
We are trying to do lots of things in Tootle. Since the demand and users of Tootle are increasing an everyday lot of responsibilities, have emerged to the whole company. At present, I am swamped with making Tootle better.
How you began the journey of entrepreneurship?
Well, I had never thought of doing entrepreneurship during my school or college days. I came from an engineering and MBA background. In 2002 after being graduated in electronic and communication engineering, I worked in the telecom sector for seven years. Likewise, I also completed my MBA degree while working in the telecom sector. Then I started working in banks, around for four years I worked in a bank. While working with another company, I found that it is tough to explore your skill and knowledge in a place where you are only an employ. The realization pushed me towards entrepreneurship.
How the idea of Tootle sparked?
In 2013 when I left the job, I started involving in various projects related to education and startup. At that time, I along with my team had started a new kind of project related to knowledge, but it went unsuccessful. After the end of that unsuccessful project, I was entirely in a leisure period. One the day when I was sitting all alone doing nothing the idea of Tootle came. I believe that the concept of Tootle came entirely out of boredom.
How challenging was it to start Tootle?
To form a team for Tootle was the biggest challenge. At present, there are only very few Nepali youths who are optimistic towards making a career in Nepal. We formed our team by gathering fresh graduates. It took a long time to build up a team. Here in Nepal, there is still no proper environment for a startup. We have to put a massive effort even for a small thing.
How is the present status of Tootle?
When we began Tootle, it was a new concept in Nepal. There was nothing like Tootle, where you can put someone in your empty bike seats and can earn some money. It took us a long time to set up a Tootle culture. But at present every day we are getting around two thousand rides. Last year we managed to provide four lhaks trip. Overall we are satisfied with our status.
